After breakfast we were all back in the minibus, but this time we had all our cases with us. We were the first to be dropped off at our hotel just 10 minutes from the airport, but it was only to drop our bags off at reception and we then returned to the Minibus. Next stop airport to drop Helen off and then into town to the railway station, it was here we said our final goodbyes as the other 4 went to catch their trains and we spent another day in town. I only took one photo as we wandered round and this was it. I expect you know what it is.
We had the pleasure of being the very first customers at a riverside cafe, the young chap had only had the place a week and it was his first morning open. After a pleasant set menu lunch we caught the tram out to the Airbus factory which is on the end of the airport. We were just in time to take a guided tour of the works but unfortunately photos are not permitted. It was lucky that we had our passports with us as these were needed for security. After this we had to decide how to get to our hotel, we could catch the tram back to town and another to the airport followed by a taxi to the hotel which was the first choice, but then we saw a taxi picking up a party of Chinese so we asked him to send a taxi for us to take us straight to the hotel, job done.
That evening we ate at the hotel and had an early night as we had to catch the shuttle bus at 6 the next morning. They ask you to be there 10 minutes before but one family mum, dad, baby and grandma turned up at 6, booked out, had loads of luggage, grandma disappeared back into the hotel and us and another chap who was also 10 minutes early were looking at our watches. This made things very tight when we got to the airport and we didn’t have time for breakfast or even a drink before boarding our plane home.
Back at Gatwick we found our way to the Purple Parking courtesy bus and got there about 2 minutes before the bus to take us back to our car and see us on our way home to Suffolk.
